AutoCode: AI-Assisted Qualitative Coding Platform

Spitale G. (2026) borant.eu [software]

Abstract

Multi-user platform for qualitative analysis of text corpora. Two coding engines — an LLM (Claude) and an NLP dictionary — run over DOCX/Excel corpora with conventions, roles and groups; collaborative workspaces manage codebooks and coding runs, each with an Analysis page. Exports to standard QDA formats (QDPX/QDC) and Excel. Two-factor authentication required. An MCP surface lets an AI assistant read and write the codebook, estimate and launch runs, and read back coded extracts with their rationale — from inside the conversation where the codebook is being drafted.

Who it is for: Qualitative researchers coding transcripts, alone or with a second coder.
